Product details
The Dan Clark Audio E3 is a closed-back planar magnetic headphone using the company’s fifth-generation driver and Acoustic Metamaterial Tuning System. Gorilla Glass 3 ear-cup covers protect a patterned surface that echoes the appearance of an open grille.
Planar driver and acoustic tuning
The driver combines revised diaphragm materials, a new tensioning system and optimised V-Planar processing. AMTS sits between the transducer and ear, using waveguides, diffusion control and resonators to manage high-frequency standing waves. A dual-mode bass-port arrangement forms part of the closed-back tuning.
Fit and portability
A self-adjusting suspension headband supports the headphone without conventional fit sliders. Folding gimbals allow it to pack down for travel. The black and blue design shares the ergonomic approach of Dan Clark Audio’s flagship models. A detachable VIVO cable can be selected with a suitable amplifier termination, and its 27-ohm impedance and approximately 90 dB/mW sensitivity call for a suitably capable headphone source.
